Doug suffers from severe migranes at a rate of once a week. Migraine medications either didn't work or were medically prohibited to him (He has supraventricular tachycardia). He therefore has to use herbal remedies.   The following are his words and are not meant as a medical reccomendation. As always CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR. This is just what works for him.
"The thing that I have found that works the best is a plant call feverfew.  It is easy to grow and I have some always growing so that I always have a supply of fresh leaves.  At the first signs of a migraine starting I eat two leaf clusters, this will either stop the migraine or knock it down so that aspirin will actually control it.  I have never used dried feverfew but the dosage for that is 125mg.  If it is winter where you are and you won't be able to grow any plants yet, you might try the dried form.  Do not take any alcohol when you are taking the feverfew and don't take it for more than four days in a row, spend as many days off it as on it.  It is ok to take two or three doses in a day if you need to.  If you take too much or for too long it will cause photo sensitivity.  Since you may need to take something in addition to the feverfew sometimes, you may try a homeopathic remedy called natrum muriaticum.
I find that it is also very effective.  It is available in both pill and liquid form, but since the liquid has an alcohol base, use the pills if you are using the feverfew.  You should be able to find both of these at any organic food store that carries vitamins or supplements.  I would suggest that when you try these you discontinue any medications that you are currently using.  Hope this helps.
